Ceramic Maintenance on Oahu — Keep Your Coating Performing for Years
A ceramic coating is a long-term investment. CAA recommends maintenance when vehicle condition and exposure show it is needed, while manufacturer warranty inspections follow their own written schedules.
How often you need service depends on your vehicle, where it's parked, and how you maintain it between visits.
Ceramic Maintenance Pricing
Condition-based care to remove light contamination, address early water spotting, and maintain coating performance.
Small vehicle
Starting at $250
Mid-size vehicle / truck
Starting at $325
Large vehicle / pipe racks / accessories / additional complexity
Starting at $375
Final pricing depends on vehicle size, condition, contamination, and accessories. Heavier water spots, industrial fallout, overspray, or corrective work may require an estimate.
Coating Not Beading Like It Used To?
That's the first sign your coating needs a maintenance service. Don't wait — schedule now.
Why Maintenance Matters
Ceramic coatings are not permanent in the absolute sense. They bond semi-permanently to clear coat, but their hydrophobic performance and protective qualities degrade over time if not properly cared for.
Factors that contribute to coating degradation in Hawaii:
Salt air and ocean mist
Mineral contamination gradually accumulates in the coating's pores, reducing performance over time.
Vog fallout
Acidic volcanic particles settle on surfaces and over time can compromise the coating's top layer.
Hard water deposits
Tap water and irrigation minerals build up and reduce hydrophobic performance.
Improper washing
Harsh soaps, dirty wash media, and allowing hard water to air-dry can reduce coating performance and damage the finish.
Condition-based maintenance removes accumulated contamination and supports hydrophobic performance. It is not itself a universal manufacturer warranty schedule.
What Ceramic Maintenance May Include
CAA selects the appropriate steps for the coating system and the vehicle's condition. Not every corrective step is included at the starting price.

Coating-Safe Hand Wash
A proper hand wash with coating-compatible soap, including wheel, tire, and fender-well care.
Condition Inspection
The paint and coating are inspected for light water spots, fallout, roughness, overspray, and other developing contamination.
Light Decontamination
Coating-safe decontamination may be used as needed when washing alone does not remove light bonded contamination.
Light Water-Spot Correction
Early water spotting may be addressed when appropriate; heavier or etched damage may require a separate corrective estimate.
Coating Performance Evaluation
Hydrophobic performance and surface condition are assessed to determine the coating's current health and what restoration is needed.
Compatible Maintenance Treatment
When appropriate, a coating-compatible maintenance product is used to refresh surface behavior. DuraSlic Xtreme requires products compatible with DuraSlic Xtreme.
CAA Ceramic Maintenance vs. Manufacturer Warranty Requirements
CAA condition-based maintenance is recommended when a vehicle shows light water spots, industrial fallout, rough-feeling paint, possible overspray, or environmental contamination. A visit around every four months may be appropriate when those conditions are present. This is not a manufacturer warranty requirement.
Jade
Current CAA-held Jade paperwork requires an annual inspection by an approved or certified installer within 30 days before the anniversary date.
DuraSlic Xtreme 7-Year
Current CAA-held paperwork requires inspection and maintenance every six months by a DuraSlic Certified Installer and hand-wash maintenance. Manufacturer exclusions apply.
Final warranty coverage and claim eligibility are determined under the manufacturer's applicable written terms.
When Does Ceramic Maintenance Make Sense?
Condition-Based Visit
Light water spots, industrial fallout, rough-feeling paint, possible overspray, or other contamination are signs that an inspection or maintenance visit may help.
Around Four Months — When Needed
For vehicles with meaningful outdoor or environmental exposure, a visit around every four months may be appropriate when the vehicle's condition calls for it.
Wash at home as needed based on vehicle use and exposure. Follow the separate written manufacturer inspection schedule for warranty purposes.
What You Can Do Between Visits
Proper at-home care significantly extends coating performance between professional maintenance services. For full pickup and first-two-week guidance, see the Ceramic Coating Aftercare guide.
✓ Recommended
- ✓Wash as needed using ceramic-safe automotive soap
- ✓Rinse thoroughly before washing to remove loose contamination
- ✓Use a soft wash mitt — not a brush or sponge
- ✓Dry immediately after washing to minimize water spot formation
- ✓Park in a garage or covered structure when possible
✗ Avoid
- ✗Wash methods that use brushes or friction against the paint
- ✗Cleaner waxes or all-in-one products unless CAA confirms compatibility
- ✗Leaving bird droppings or tree sap to sit — remove promptly
- ✗Harsh detergents or dishwashing soap
Aftercare — First 2 Weeks After Coating
Your coating is cured enough at pickup for normal driving and rain exposure, and it will continue to harden over the following weeks.
During the First 2 Weeks
- ✓Your vehicle can get wet — rain is fine
- ✗Do not use any wash method, soap, or detergent during this period
- ✗Do not wash the vehicle during this period
If Needed
- →Remove bird droppings or tree sap as soon as possible
- →Use a soft microfiber towel with a ceramic-safe detail spray
- →Gently wipe — do not scrub
After 2 Weeks
- ✓Normal proper washing can resume
- ✓Continue using coating-compatible products
- ✓Wash in the shade and dry completely so hard water does not air-dry

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get my ceramic coating serviced in Hawaii?
CAA recommends maintenance based on condition and exposure. A visit around every four months may be appropriate when light water spots, fallout, rough-feeling paint, possible overspray, or other environmental contamination appears. Home washing is as needed based on use and exposure.
Does skipping maintenance void the warranty?
Manufacturer warranty requirements are separate from CAA condition-based maintenance. Current CAA-held Jade paperwork requires an annual inspection by an approved or certified installer within 30 days before the anniversary date. Current CAA-held DuraSlic Xtreme 7-Year paperwork requires inspection and maintenance every six months by a DuraSlic Certified Installer and hand-wash maintenance. Claim eligibility is determined under the applicable written terms.
Can I wash my ceramic-coated car at home?
Yes. CAA recommends proper hand washing in the shade on a cool surface with ceramic-safe automotive soap, clean wash media, and thorough drying so hard water does not air-dry. If you are unable to hand wash, contact CAA for an appropriate maintenance option for your installed coating.
What happens if I skip maintenance for a few years?
The coating may still provide protection, but hydrophobic performance will degrade, contamination will accumulate, and the coating may lose uniformity. In some cases, the coating layer may need to be cut and re-coated.
Do you service coatings applied by other shops?
We can evaluate coatings applied elsewhere and recommend appropriate maintenance. Results may vary based on the product and application quality of the original installation.
